Do you have a product or service that could appeal to the public sector?  Do you know how to access and tender for contracts with local and national government?

When you consider that local authorities in the North West currently spend as much as £6.5 billion a year on goods and services, they could provide a steady income and financial stability for qualifying local businesses. In fact, many local authorities actively want to work with local suppliers, and are keen to encourage them to bid for contracts.

That’s why the Business Growth Hub, in conjunction with Trafford Council, has developed ‘Textbook Tendering’. In this series of workshops and one-to-one sessions you’ll be given all the information, skills and practical support you need to qualify and tender for public contracts with confidence.

We’ll highlight what a good approach looks like, help you avoid common mistakes and show you how to find and register for this kind of work. At the end of the process, eligible businesses could have the opportunity to pitch to Trafford Council at their Meet the Buyer event on 30th June 2015, part of Trafford Business Expo.

To find out more please join us at Lancashire County Cricket Club on Tuesday 21st April for the Textbook Tendering Launch - agenda below.

In addition to the launch event on 21st April there will be two follow up workshops and one to one sessions with an advisor - details below.

You will be able to book onto the additional workshops at the launch event on the 21st April.

Workshop One - Tendering for Contracts - Thursday 7th May 09:00 - 17:00 Old Trafford Football Stadium

A one day training workshop to give you the key skills you’ll need to apply for public contracts. Delivered by an experienced, award-winning  tender writer this course will help you to understand and navigate your way through public tendering processes. The course will cover:

  •          Where to look for new opportunities
  •          Know the golden rules of bidding
  •          Know how to prepare a compelling bid or proposal
  •          Be in much better shape to start bidding and winning!

Workshop Two - Register for Contracts - Thursday 21st May 12:00 - 17:00 Trafford Town Hall

In this session you’ll be given real insight from a public procurement expert telling you what exactly you need to do (and not do) to make a credible bid for public contracts. You’ll also be supported as you register your business on ‘The Chest’ the IT platform where Greater Manchester Authorities post their available contracts.  At the end of the session you’ll know what’s available and what you’re going to bid for.
