Self-employment can significantly impact your wellbeing in various ways, both positively and negatively.

Being self-employed often offers more flexibility in terms of working hours and location, which can lead to better work-life balance and reduced stress, whilst being your own boss allows you to make decisions independently, giving you a sense of control over your work and career direction.
However, working alone without colleagues can lead to feelings of loneliness and isolation, impacting mental wellbeing and self-employment often comes with financial instability and irregular income, which can lead to stress and anxiety about the future.

By attending this free event delegates will learn to establish clear boundaries between work and personal life to prevent burnout and maintain balance, build a support network of fellow self-employed individuals, mentors, or industry groups to combat feelings of isolation and prioritize self-care activities such as exercise, relaxation, and hobbies to manage stress and promote mental wellbeing.

Hear from our guest speaker Maria Mander. Maria Mander is the Founder of ‘Mander Wellbeing’ providing Wellbeing Consultancy to create a well & high performing workforce, and a great place to work. Maria’s insights on wellbeing are regularly seen through her writing, podcasts and speaking engagements at conferences, as well as being a guest panellist. She has been a judge for the UK Company Culture Awards and Greater Manchester Good Employment Charter Awards. Currently, Maria is a member of Pro Manchester’s Wellbeing Champions Committee. She was an award winner on the NatWest Entrepreneur Accelerator Programme in recognition of her outstanding commitment.

In addition delegates will also have the opportunity to register for 3 of 5 exciting wellbeing workshops taking place over the course of the day, including:

  • Self awareness – This workshop helps owner and managers check out their own “fitness for purpose”: to understand what makes them tick; to recognise how to get even greater return out of the resource they represent; and, to determine simple, practical ways of making adjustments to their own approach as the business grows.
