Our Social Impact Series explore the community impact, measurement frameworks, and collaborative solutions for enhancing business contributions to society.
Social Value Workshops: Turn Social Impact into a Competitive Advantage
Embedding Social Value isn’t just about being responsible — it’s about being strategically smart.
More and more public sector contracts now include Social Value as a core requirement in the procurement process. Businesses that can evidence how they create positive community, environmental, and social impact are scoring higher in tenders and winning more work.
By integrating Social Value into your operations — from local employment and volunteering to carbon reduction and wellbeing initiatives — you not only strengthen your bids but also build a stronger, more resilient business that attracts clients, partners, and talent.
Our Social Value Workshops help you understand how Social Value drives both commercial advantage and community impact. Through these hands-on workshops, you’ll learn how to measure, manage, and communicate your Social Value in ways that deliver real business results.
Why Attend

-
Build a practical strategy that combines social impact and business growth

Gain the tools to measure, report, and communicate your impact with confidence

Social Value gets us to think differently — about how our businesses can support communities, protect the environment, and make a positive impact for future generations.
In today’s world, businesses are expected to do more than deliver products or services. Public sector contracts now increasingly assess how organisations contribute to wider goals such as social wellbeing, local employment, and sustainability. Businesses that can demonstrate genuine Social Value — including environmental responsibility — are gaining a competitive edge in tenders and procurement.
This workshop helps you understand what Social Value really means and how to embed it within your organisation’s strategy to create meaningful impact. You’ll learn how to develop a Social Value Strategy and Policy, explore measurement frameworks, and see best practice examples from Greater Manchester that show how businesses are integrating sustainability and social impact into their operations.
You’ll also discover how environmental initiatives — such as reducing carbon emissions, improving energy efficiency, and building a decarbonisation plan — can form a key part of your Social Value offer and help strengthen future tender submissions.
Topics include:
- What is Social Value?
- Legislation around social value
- Why Social Value and sustainability matter for your organisation
- Developing a Social Value strategy and policy
- Measurement and reporting fundamentals
- Best practice from Greater Manchester
- Understanding climate change and building a decarbonisation plan
- Q&A session
By the end of this workshop, you will:
- Understand the definitions and legislation around Social Value and sustainability
- Know how to embed Social Value and green practices into your organisation’s strategy
- Be equipped to start creating your own Social Value strategy or policy document
- Recognise how sustainability initiatives can strengthen your bids and brand reputation

Once you’ve embedded Social Value within your business, the next step is learning how to measure and demonstrate your impact effectively.
Social Value is about more than good intentions — it’s about showing real, measurable results that matter to buyers, communities, and stakeholders. This practical workshop focuses on how to evaluate, quantify, and communicate your organisation’s Social Value through widely recognised frameworks.
You’ll learn how to assess your impact, calculate Social Return on Investment (SROI), and use frameworks such as the National TOMs (Themes, Outcomes and Measures) and the Social Value Model. You’ll also explore how environmental weighting and carbon reduction plans influence tender scoring — and how to position your business accordingly.
Topics include:
- Understanding Social Value and your business impact
- Social Return on Investment (SROI)
- National TOMs (NTs)
- The Social Value Model
- Reporting and communicating your Social Value
