dBx Acoustics is a Manchester-based SME that provides high quality acoustic design and advice. Despite success, the business found that the developers, planners and contractors it worked with often struggled to understand the technical language used to describe and measure the quality of acoustics.

The business teamed up with GM Business Growth Hub to develop a tool that would enable clients to listen to sound options within their developments, to make informed decisions on acoustics. Together, a brief was created and submitted to the University of Salford, to create a portable, inexpensive software tool that would do just that.
