As one of the most prestigious awards that a UK business can win, companies of all sizes can now apply for the King’s Award for Enterprise 2025. The deadline for the award entries is 12th September at 1:00pm here we have a brief look at what is need and some the things you need to consider.

Creating a successful submission

To inspire Greater Manchester’s businesses to craft their King’s Award for Enterprise 2025 entries, we have recently held two events at the newly refurbished Rochdale Town Hall and Rochdale Fire Up Co-working space. These events included features and insight from current holders of the Award to give attendees a good idea about how they go about applying. A previous winner, Richard Hagan of Crystal Doors, gave a very detailed explanation and walkthrough of the application process.

King’s Award Submission Tips

Teamwork – Richard Hagan said that crafting a successful submission is a lot about mindset and involving the whole team. Applying takes time and involving everyone and dividing it into section, makes it more manageable.

Dedicate Time - In fact, the Award website says it takes a from 20 hours to 50 hours to complete the application form. So having a team to help is important!

Be Honest - Another important point is to be absolutely honest in what you write. Judges check everything. They can spot when an AI has been used, and when a company has been paid by the applicant to write it for them. It is free to apply, but there are companies that charge thousands to complete the application for you.

Submit Multiple Entries - You can also apply for more than one award. Of the most recent winners five received two awards. And size isn’t an issue either, 89% were SME’s, including a café with just two full time staff.

Should you be selected as a winner of an Award it can have a big impact on your business.  It will lead to more exposure in the media. It is also useful as proof of being a good business when talking to other businesses, as GeoUk found when spending time in the US. They found people there were very impressed that they had a King’s Award!

Previous Award Winners

Our GM Business Growth Hub client Thomas Kneale and Co Ltd won a King’s Award for Enterprise and recently had their award presented to them by Diane Hawkins, The Lord-Lieutenant of Greater Manchester.

"We hope our success in winning this award will spur on other companies to take the same path and we wish every company good luck as they start or continue their journey." (Managing Director Brett Mendell, Thomas Kneale & Co Ltd)

Take the time to start your award entry

So, gather your three years of accounts, all the other information, and should you be successful and can expect a visit from the Lord Lieutenant! Unfortunately, only one person can visit the palace and receive the award from a royal. The whole firm can join in when the Lord Lieutenant comes!
