  • Support designed by Hub advisor Omar Mulla, who has previously founded several retail and e-commerce businesses including cosmetics, FMCG, interiors and furniture companies.
  • An event designed specifically for businesses in the retail sector will be held on 10 October at Rochdale to address the sector's challenges and explore a range of ways to enable them to adapt, survive, and thrive.

GM Business Growth Hub has launched specialist support for Greater Manchester’s high streets, all at no cost. They claim the package will revitalise the region’s retail industry and support the diverse needs of its businesses.

The launch of the support coincides with the damning news that 38 shops a day are closing on UK high streets. However, the report, released this week, shows signs of hope for some areas.

“High streets are the beating heart of communities, but people often forget about the small business owners that keep them going. This report shows that more attention and support needs to be given to them.

“That’s why we’ve built this support through feedback from retailers, so we know that it’s] needed and will really make a difference in our local communities” Yvonne Sampson, Head of Enterprise at GM Business Growth Hub

The tailored support, available from today, is led by their retail specialist Omar Mulla and offers a unique opportunity for retailers across Greater Manchester to gain insights and strategies to tackle some of the most pressing issues in the current climate.

Omar Mulla, GM Business Growth Hub Advisor, said: “I’ve worked in retail and ecommerce since I was in my teens, so I’m really excited to be bringing this support to Greater Manchester businesses. We’ve spent time with business owners from across the region to make sure it’s exactly what they need.

“There is hope! Some areas, like value retailers and small shops, have shown clear signs of growth. And with this support, we can help put all our high streets in the best position possible.”

An event designed specifically for businesses in the retail sector will be held on 10 October at Rochdale to address the sector's challenges and explore a range of ways to enable them to adapt, survive, and thrive. Through guest speakers with years of retail, digital marketing, and customer experience backgrounds, attendees will discover new strategies for growing their retail business.
