ASCEND Scale Up is GM Business Growth Hub's newest flagship programme. It is designed to support the region's most ambitious founders. This dynamic six-month development initiative will begin in mid-September 2024 and invite 25 founders to join its first cohort. The programme provides tailored support through workshops that focus on essential aspects for startups to scale. It is designed to help founders tackle five common challenges in their business journey:
1. Scaling Challenges
Founders often encounter challenges when scaling their businesses, including managing rapid growth, finance, governance, business strategy, talent management, maintaining quality, and optimising operations. Through ASCEND Scale Up, seasoned Business Advisors offer personalised guidance to help participants create a tailored growth plan for their business. Workshops and discussions with experienced entrepreneurs focus on implementing strategies and systems to ensure a smooth and sustainable business scaling process.
2. Access to Funding
Securing funding can be a major challenge for many founders as they struggle to connect with investors and obtain the necessary capital for growth. ASCEND offers the opportunity to connect with active investors in Europe and the US. Participants can benefit from funding workshops and networking events in the programme and can showcase their potential to attract investors at events such as the Web Summit 2024.
3. Strategic Planning
Some founders may find themselves lacking the necessary experience or knowledge to develop and execute effective long-term strategies for growth. With ASCEND's Strategy to Action Day, led by KPMG, participants will have the opportunity to learn how to turn their vision into actionable strategies. Expert-led sessions will provide the tools to identify and assess strategic options, ensuring participants make informed decisions for their business' future.
4. Leadership Development
As businesses grow, founders need to transition from being doers to becoming leaders, which necessitates acquiring new skills and mindsets. ASCEND offers leadership and personal development workshops that will help improve participant's leadership, emotional intelligence, and entrepreneurial skills.
